Feministas Unidas Inc.

Feministas Unidas is a non-profit Coalition of Feminist Scholars in Spanish, Latin America, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic and Latina/o/x Studies.

Feministas Unidas publishes a biannual e-newsletter in the spring and fall, featuring news, announcements, interviews, and information relevant to our community.

Our annual, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal features critical work on gender-related issues in Iberian, Spanish-American, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, Caribbean, U.S. Hispanic, and Latino Studies.

Our coalition is an allied organization of the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), coordinating panels, roundtables, and other events. The organization also collaborates in the annual meetings of the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). In addition, we organize book launches, reading clubs, and gatherings to support the work of our community. View our archived meetings here: FeministasUnidasYouTube

Our coalition offers three annual prizes in the fields of women’s, gender, queer, and feminist studies related to issues in the Global and Transatlantic Hispanic worlds. These include the “Adela Zamudio Prize,” awarded for published work; the “Emilia Pardo Bazán Prize,” for unpublished work by graduate students; and the “Creative Prize,” which recognizes literary and artistic work in these disciplines.

The Executive Committee is responsible for the activities of the Coalition as well as for implementing decisions taken by the national membership.
